Marcus Burnett was born and raised in Bristol. He had several
psychic experiences as a child, a significant one being his prediction that his
grandparents on his mothers side would both pass away as soon as they moved to
a new home. Ten days after they moved, his grandmother passed away from a
stroke, followed by grandfather passing from an embolism the day after his
wife's funeral.
In the following months Marcus became increasingly fearful of
going to bed as the growing sense of something in his room revealed itself via
the sound of footsteps, knocking on doors and voices calling his name. Like any
other eleven year old child might do, he hid under his bed sheets and put his
fingers in his ears to shut it all out, yet the visits persisted until
exhaustion and frustration brought him to confront it. Pulling the bed sheets
down and turning on the lamp Marcus saw that it was his grandfather sitting and
smiling at the foot of his bed. His grandfather was relieved to have got his
attention, saying that he wanted mum to know that Nan and he were together and
happy. Finally he told Marcus that he would not come back in this way again,
asking him to never be afraid before vanishing.
Five years on, these
events were practically forgotten, so when Marcus heard that his mum had been
going to a spiritualist church, his reaction was of genuine concern. In hope of
talking his mother out of such rubbish he agreed to go with her to her next
visit.
The medium on the
platform that evening was Sam McDowell, a dower looking old Scotsman who told
Marcus that his grandfather, named William, was disappointed in Marcus for
coming to disprove things. The medium predicted that one day Marcus would be
standing on the platform as a medium himself. Marcus laughed aloud but was
quickly silenced when the medium told him that grandfather also knew things
weren't going so well at college, so he'd best accept the job offer that was
coming in two weeks.
Two weeks later Marcus was offered a job in design, which he
took.
These events sparked Marcus' interest in developing as a medium,
and as Sam predicted, Marcus first served as a young platform medium aged 19,
and has been doing so ever since.
Marcus has trained at the Arthur Findlay College, enjoying
working with many other mediums and exploring the many different forms of
mediumship. He has a great interest in Trance and physical mediumship, psychic
art and has also a keen interest in science, particularly theoretical and
particle physics.
Marcus also works both as
a psychic artist and as a medium with psychic artists.
